Beyond the Obstacle

Life. Sometimes it throws a shit ton of things in your way, and the way I see it, you either give up, wait it out, or work through it.

I have done all three. I’ve even done all three with the same obstacles.

I don’t have all the answers, and I am by no means finished with all of my challenges. I’m at a much better place in my life now, but I still have a long way to go.

I have some advice, though, that I want to remind myself of when I venture into Tomorrow.

  1. Listen to your parents, but be aware that they are not always right.
    • They may mean well, but they tend to forget advice #6. Often.
  2. Ask for advice when you need it. Ask for an ear when you need that.
    • Be specific about which.
  3. Get out of bed. Wash your face, brush your teeth, get dressed, take your meds. If you can: Take a shower or just wash up. GOOD FOR YOU! YOU TRIED!
    • You’re allowed to go back to bed, but don’t give up completely.
  4. Some people are only out for drama. Ignore them.
    • Do not let yourself be pulled into shit – not by the shit stirrer, and not by their flying monkeys.
  5. Some people don’t know you. Stand up for yourself.
    • You are allowed to tell people that what they’re saying or doing is hurtful, wrong or unnecessary.
    • Remember that this also goes the other way.
  6. IS IT NECESSARY? IS IT NICE? IS IT TRUE? If not, shut the fuck up.
    • Yes, you can still joke with your friends, but read the room.
  7. If it seems too good to be true, it usually is.
    • This also goes for all the ads on social media.
  8. Take good care of the green flags in your life.
    • Yes, even when they’re annoying, exhausting or ghosting you.
  9. Stay humble and be patient.
  10. Take responsibility for your actions. Change, if necessary.

Also: All furry things are potential killers. Do not let that stop you from enjoying them. There are worse ways to die.
